Scott C's Story

Almost 20 years since since we graduated class of 1991 ! Hard to believe it's been that long ! I've had as many ups as downs, but there is still a lot of living I want to do ! I joined the Army, right out of high school, for a few years, then got out and came back to Georgia. I got in church, met my wife and had three wonderful children, Timothy, Victoria and Sarah. We were happily married for 8 years, me working as a pest control technician, and her a homemaker. Then my wife convinced me to move to Iowa to help run a 600 acre family farm, that her mother and aunt just inherited. Very bad idea !!! After, three years on the farm, she wanted a divorce. It's a long story, so I won't bore you with all the details. I did try to make things work, we even did some counseling, but in the end, I guess she thought she could do a better job raising our kids on her own. Another bad idea. Now, just for the record, I never smoked, drank, did drugs, or anything like that. Me and my children are very close, and my daughters still both want to hold my hands, whenever we are together. A little girl needs a strong, sensitve, caring, and affectionate father in her life, someone she can call daddy. And I believe if she can't have that, she at least needs a father figure. My son, has alot of respect for his father, and is never ashamed to hug me in public, or introduce me to his friends. Sorry, I got off track, back to my story. I tried to start over in Iowa, for my kids' sake. Good idea, with the best of intentions, but after five years of doing it alone, and never getting ahead, I decided it's time to go back home, to my first family, the only other family I have. I just couldn't go on b...Expand for more
y myself anymore, only seeing my kids twice a month, one day every other week. So, now I'm back in Georgia, ready to get back on my feet and start over !!! Believe me when I say, leaving my kids in Iowa is the hardest decision I've ever made in my life. To know I'm so far away from them brings tears to my eyes when I stop and think about it. But, I'll still be seeing my kids two days a month, though, so I will survive. I miss them so much it hurts, but I don't miss a SINGLE thing about Iowa !!! I shoveled more snow, and slipped on more ice, than you can imagine. I've been in retail the last 5 years, and have dealt with some of the most rude and inconsiderate people, at work and around town. Enough to last a lifetime. Let me assure you, I don't take southern hospitality for granted anymore!!! And there you have it, my life in a paragraph !!! Drop me a line and maybe we can catch up on where life has taken you. I'm not the shy, quiet, introverted guy you remember. I've decided to be myself, like it or not !!! I'm outgoing, love to talk and listen, and I try to appreciate everything life has to offer, good or bad. I've learned from my past mistakes and I believe I'm a better person. It could always be worse !!! I'm just too optimistic, too tough, and too much of a dreamer to let life beat me down. Like my dad used to say, " When life knocks you down, you gotta get up again, and go another round !!!" The bell will ring, then you can rest and get some advice on how to win the next round. But, when it rings again, ready or not, you gotta get up again and never, never, never, give up !!! So, let that bell ring !!! I'm ready for another round, Life, give me your best shot !!!
